Matching Ponytails

Today Evan decided to put his mohawk into a ponytail. Ellena had her hair pinned back with a bow, but decided to have a matching ponytail after seeing Evan's. Monkey see, monkey do!

Their Looks Are Changing

Ok, the kids are looking really grown up... when did this happen?! Evan is posing with his Zombie tower, made out of Jenga blocks. I like how he cups his arm around it as if it's a person. And Ellena has lost the "baby" look. (And we're consistently having potty successes every day! Even if she's in a diaper, she takes it off to sit on her potty to pee!)

Breakfast Time

Here is a picture from this morning's breakfast with the kids. Today, Evan was up early and Ellena slept in. So Evan finished breakfast, got ready for school, and was practicing his reading with his "homework" - yes, he's getting homework for preschool! But he loves it - he's practicing his letter sounds. Ellena is munching away at her cereal. A great start to a great day!

Hawk is Getting BIG!

Evan's mohawk is getting BIG! Notice what's in his hand? His brand new Plants vs. Zombies action figure. Uncle Nate is definitely an all-star in Evan's eyes!

No Compromise

In the last week I've noticed that the kids are no longer compromising. They want their own way and they refuse to help a momma out. The other day we went to Blockbuster to get a free movie rental. I warned them that they would both have to agree on one movie or we wouldn't get anything. Ellena wanted Strawberry Shortcake and Evan wanted Word World. They finally agreed that they wanted an Elmo movie, but of course they couldn't agree on which one. So I just picked one for them. So difficult! Today we were deciding on lunch. Evan wanted his Buzz Lighyear soup and Ellena wanted Dora soup. Ev wanted me to make the decision again, but I would have picked veggie soup, which neither were interested in! So I put their names on paper and picked a paper. El ended up with her Dora soup and we'll have Buzz next week, which Evan is convinced is soooo far away.

The above pic is of Ellena sprinkling season salt on our roast pork dinner. She was so excited to help!

Cleaning

Today I told the kids that they need to clean up all their toys by tonight. So of course, what do they do? Bring out MORE toys... Go figure.

Ellena's Answer to Everything

Today I was making a grocery list and said out loud, "Sooooo... what else do we need from the grocery store?" Ellena replied, "Uhh.... a Sucka!" I guess that is better than her other response... When Pops lost his train of thought while telling them a story, she filled the silence with "butthole?"

It's a Hair Day

Today is a hair day for the kids. I braided Ellena's pigtails for the first time and we gave Evan's mohawk some spikes. Not sure what his Montessori teachers will think of them...

The Start of Another School Year

Today Evan started his last year of Montessori before going into Kindergarten next year. Traffic at drop off wasn't too bad and El and I got some grocery shopping done before hanging out at home, where she had a potty success! Very exciting times for us!
